The map below places every unit from the AFADA chapters and the air defence at its approximate location. Use the filters to look per command or per type. Besides the AFADAs, LRA and VTA, the SPRN early-warning radars (Voronezh, see § 5.6) and the VDV airborne troops (§ 4.9) can now also be filtered as separate layers. Hover over a marker for the unit details; drag to pan and scroll to zoom.
Note the geographic logic: the north-western (6th, Leningrad MD) and southern (4th) commands lie close to the border with dense concentrations; the central (14th) command provides depth and MiG-31 interception over enormous distances; the eastern (11th) command covers the Pacific flank; and the 45th guards the Arctic bastions. The strategic bombers (LRA) sit deep in the interior — though that "safe depth" has not been untouchable since 2024.
Bases with an amber ring were hit in 2024–2025 by Ukrainian deep-strike attacks (drones, ATACMS) — including Engels, Morozovsk, Belaya, Olenya and Ivanovo, the focus of Operation Spiderweb. They illustrate the new vulnerability of fixed air bases.
Coordinates and assignments are approximations, intended to show the spread and centres of gravity — not exact site locations.
